Joseph's Bones
Joseph's Bones, an instrumental trombone reggae band, performs drummer/composer Jason Levis' original compositions as well as arrangements of reggae classics from Bob Marley to Augustus Pablo and Burning Spear.

The ensemble features old school roots reggae grooves inspired by early Studio One, Island, and Trojan records, and the echo heavy wash of dub artists such as King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry. The hard-hitting, heavy one-drop rhythm section is counterbalanced by the singing harmonies of the trombones and live dub soundscapes of the guitars.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JOSEPH'S BONES TWIN DEBUT ALBUMS, NOMADIC PULSE AND PULSE IN DUB, DIGITAL RELEASE NOVEMBER 1, 2011

Joseph's Bones twin debut albums, Nomadic Pulse and Pulse in Dub, featuring original reggae compositions by Berlin based virtuosic drummer and classically trained composer Jason Levis, 35, will release simultaneously on November 1, 2011. A San Francisco Bay Area native, but living in Europe's artistic capitol Berlin since 2008, Levis recorded the albums in 2007 at Guerilla Recording in Oakland, CA and has kept them under wraps for the last four years.

"The right time to release Nomadic Pulse and Pulse in Dub is now, and not just because there are not enough reggae trombone bands out there, but because in times of upheaval, like what we are facing in the world today, reggae music transcends genres to embrace the desire of all people to live a positive and joyful way", says Levis, who relocated with his wife to Berlin in mid-2008 and recently became a father. On his instrumental reggae trombone band Joseph's Bones, Levis agrees, "The essence of Nomadic Pulse/Pulse in Dub is true to roots reggae in both spirit and sound. This is the music that I have wanted to create for many years. Playing and writing reggae fuels my hope to make the world a better place".

Formed in 2005 with nine of the Bay Area's best musicians, Joseph's Bones headlined with bands such as Guerilla Hi-Fi, Franco Nero, and Low End Theory before Joseph's Bones went into the studio to record Nomadic Pulse. The dub versions appear on Pulse in Dub, for to Levis they are two sides of the same story, with roots reggae at the core.

Joseph's Bones' music draws inspiration from Bob Marley, Augustus Pablo, and even European classical composer Johannes Brahms, allowing them to find their audience at the concert hall as well as the dance hall. Nomadic Pulse and Pulse in Dub is available digitally at iTunes, Amazon MP3, Spotify, MySpace Music, MediaNet, eMusic, Zune, Rhapsody, Nokia, Napster, iHeartRadio, Vervelife, and Amazon on Demand through the Island Def Jam Digital Distribution label.

Joseph's Bones is Rob Ewing, Scott Larson and Naomi Siegel on trombone, Marc Bolin on tuba, John Schott, Myles Boisen and John Finkbeiner on guitar, Lisa Mezzacappa on bass and Jason Levis on drums.
